THE JOHN J. NESBITT FAMILY OF PHILADELPHIA
THE ROCKFIELD FARM YEARS - 1920s TO 1940s, con't #2
FOX HUNTING WITH THE WHITEMARSH HUNT WAS CENTRAL TO LIFE AT ROCKFIELD FARM.  THE PHOTO AT UPPER LEFT SHOWS JOHN J. SR. WITH HIS FAVORITE HUNTER CLOWN, ca. THE MID-1930s.  IN THE BACKGROUND BEYOND THE PADDOCK ARE TENNIS AVENUE AND THE FIELDS OF DEERFIELD FARM.  UPPER RIGHT IS JOHN J. SR. COMPETING IN A WHITEMARSH HUNT HUNTER TRIAL PAIRS CLASS ca. 1930 (PROBABLY THE WISSAHICKON FARM HORSE MEET).  LOWER LEFT IS COUSIN JUNE THURBER AFTER A HORSE SHOW IN THE 1930s.

THE LOWER CENTER AND LOWER RIGHT PICTURES WERE TAKEN ON THE BEACH IN ATLANTIC CITY DURING THE FALL OF 1923.  CENTER IS AUNT LIBBY (ELIZABETH) ON PRINCE, WHILE ON THE RIGHT IS UNCLE HARRY, IT LOOKS LIKE ON PRINCE ALSO, WITH JOHN J. SR. GIVING INSTRUCTIONS.  HARRY IS WEARING THE WENONAH MILITARY ACADEMY UNIFORM,  HE AND HIS BROTHER JOHN BEING BOARDING STUDENTS AT WENONAH BEFORE THEY TRANSFERRED TO BOARD AT CHESTNUT HILL ACADEMY.
