THE JOHN J. NESBITT FAMILY OF PHILADELPHIA
THE ROCKFIELD FARM YEARS - 1920s TO 1940s, con't #1
ROCKFIELD'S RACING STABLE HAD MANY GOOD HORSES AND SUCCESSES IN THE 1920s AND 30s.  THIS ARTICLE REPORTS ONE OF THESE, RUBIGNEY, WINNING IN 1929 (SEE THE 4TH  PARAGRAPH, AND 5TH, ENDICOTT).  NESBITT HORSES FROM THIS ERA RAN AND WON AT CHESTERBROOK (NOW PART OF THE RADNOR RACES) AND ROSETREE, AS WELL
AS AT MAJOR TRACKS SUCH AS SARATOGA.

THE ABOVE ITEM FROM A 1938 PUBLICATION SHOWS UNCLE ALBERT AND AUNT IRENE AT THE FALL ROSETREE RACES.  THE CAPTION READS: "MR. AND MRS. ALBERT J. NESBITT, ROCKFIELD FARM, AMBLER, TRYING TO PICK A WINNER IN THE PADDOCK."

AS WE FIND AND RECEIVE MORE INFORMATION ON ROCKFIELD STABLES WE WILL EXPAND ON THIS SUBJECT.
