LT. JOHN J. NESBITT, JR. - WORLD WAR II SERVICE - 1942 - 1946
JOHN J. NESBITT, JR. WAS PATRIOTIC AND COMMITED TO SERVING HIS COUNTRY AS AMERICA WENT TO WAR IN 1942.  THE FAMILY COMPANY, JOHN J. NESBITT, INC., HAD RAPIDLY CONVERTED FROM ITS PEACE TIME PRODUCTION TO PRODUCE WAR MATERIAL.
LINK TO JOHN J. NESBITT, INC. - WORLD WAR II AND GETTING BACK TO BUSINESS - 1941 TO 1950 .   AS VICE PRESIDENT- SALES OF THE NESBITT COMAPNY, JOHN NESBITT MAY HAVE FELT HE COULD MAKE A MORE MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION TO THE WAR EFFORT BY JOINING THE ARMED SERVICES. 

IN OCTOBER, 1942 HE ENLISTED IN THE U.S. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS. AND  WAS SOON  A CORPORAL.  HE WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE ORDNANCE OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL (OCS) AT THE ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND IN MARYLAND.  GRADUATING OCS IN MAY, 1943 HE WENT ON TO THE OFFICER'S TIRE REBUILDING COURSE AT FT. HOLABIRD, MD, GRADUATING IN JULY.  HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE 430TH TIRE REPAIR COMPANY WHICH WENT TO ENGLAND JULY, 1944, AND HE SERVED IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM 1944-1946.
