JOHN J. NESBITT (1869-1941) WAS BORN IN DUBLIN, IRELAND AND EMIGRATED FROM IRELAND TO THE UNITED STATES CA. 1885, POSSIBLY THROUGH THE PORT OF BOSTON.   HE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A FRIEND, A. .J. COUNTY .*   BY 1899 HE HAD ESTABLISHED A SMALL PLUMBING AND HEATING BUSINESS ON GERMANTOWN AVENUE IN PHILADELPHIA, HAVING MARRIED ELIZABETH DUNLEVY OF PHILADELPHIA IN 1898.   THEIR FIRST CHILD, ALBERT J., WAS BORN IN 1899.

EARLY IN THE NEW CENTURY, THE NESBITT FAMILY MOVED TO ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY WHERE JOHN J. NESBITT CONTINUED IN THE PLUMBING AND HEATING BUSINESS AS A CONTRACTOR.

*ACCORDING TO THE 1920 CENSUS, A.J. COUNTY WAS A V.P. WORKING FOR A RAILROAD LIVING IN ST. DAVID'S, PA.  RESEARCH  OF PRR RECORDS AT THE HAGLEY MUSEUM RESEARCH LIBRARY HAS CONFIRMED THE J. J. NESBITT FAMILY TRADITION  THAT HE WAS THE FINANCIAL V.P. FOR THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD.
